Description

Tender slow-cooked beef, rich au jus sauce, and gooey melted cheese, all sandwiched between crispy, toasted bread for the ultimate comfort meal.


Ingredients

  • 34 lbs chuck roast
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 6 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
  • Butter for toasting rolls

Instructions

  1. Season the chuck roast with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.
  2. Place the roast in the Crockpot and pour in the French onion soup, beef consommé, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Remove the beef from the Crockpot, shred it with two forks, and return it to the broth.
  5. Toast the hoagie rolls with butter until golden brown.
  6. Place the shredded beef onto the rolls and top with a slice of cheese.
  7. Serve with a side of the au jus from the Crockpot for dipping.

Notes

For extra flavor, sear the beef in a hot pan before adding it to the Crockpot.
