Description
Tender slow-cooked beef, rich au jus sauce, and gooey melted cheese, all sandwiched between crispy, toasted bread for the ultimate comfort meal.

- 3–4 lbs chuck roast
- 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 6 hoagie rolls
- 6 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- Butter for toasting rolls
Instructions
- Season the chuck roast with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.
- Place the roast in the Crockpot and pour in the French onion soup, beef consommé, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the beef from the Crockpot, shred it with two forks, and return it to the broth.
- Toast the hoagie rolls with butter until golden brown.
- Place the shredded beef onto the rolls and top with a slice of cheese.
- Serve with a side of the au jus from the Crockpot for dipping.
Notes
For extra flavor, sear the beef in a hot pan before adding it to the Crockpot.
