Description

Soft, cinnamon-sugar-coated French Breakfast Puffs offer the perfect blend of a muffin and a donut. A delightful breakfast treat that’s easy to make and perfect for any morning!


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup melted butter (for coating)
  • ¾ cup sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and mix well.
  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fill muffin cups about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly, then dip each puff in melted butter, followed by the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a variation, fill the puffs with jam or cream cheese before baking for an extra surprise!
