Description

A crispy, golden fry bread topped with seasoned ground beef, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup water or milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add water (or milk) and vegetable oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3-5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide dough into 6-8 balls and roll each into a ¼-inch thick disc.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry each dough disc for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. In a separate skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat, then add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Top each fry bread with ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with seasoned black beans or roasted vegetables.
