Description

A light and crispy fish batter recipe that enhances the flavor and texture of fried fish. Perfect for cod, haddock, or any white fish.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup cold beer (or sparkling water for gluten-free option)
  • 1 egg
  • 4 pieces of white fish fillets (cod, haddock, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and paprika.
  2. Add the egg and cold beer (or sparkling water) to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to around 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dip fish fillets into the batter, ensuring an even coat, and carefully place them into the hot oil.
  5. Fry for 4-6 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve with your favorite sides, such as fries and tartar sauce.

Notes

For an extra crispy batter, keep the liquid cold and do not overmix the ingredients.
